Chordex provides extensive access to fundamental and advanced musical chord theory, serving as a comprehensive tool for musicians seeking to deepen their understanding of harmony.

The application features two primary modes of operation. In the first mode, users can select a chord from the interface, upon which the app displays the individual notes constituting that chord, including their conventional note names and their respective scale degrees. Additionally, it offers the ability to play the selected chord or individual notes through an integrated tone generator, enhancing auditory comprehension.

The second mode facilitates interactive exploration by allowing users to highlight specific notes on a virtual keyboard. The app then generates a list of chords that contain those notes, ordered according to a combination of their relevance and relative rarity. For example, selecting D and F might suggest D minor as an appropriate match over less common options such as A flat diminished 7th. This mode also provides detailed information about the constituent notes of each suggested chord and enables playback for each, supporting both theoretical analysis and practical audition.
